If there was a TV show where you could watch people compete for something, would you watch it? Actually, there are many TV shows like that right not. American Idol, wrestling, sports in general, Dancing with the Stars--they are all contests. When someone wins a contest, they most likely will recieve a prize. How is the Hunger Games different? They use real people, and like the other shows, they are contests, which makes them fun and entertaining to watch.
At least, that's what the citizens of the Capitol were lead to think.
What kinds of messages do real TV shows give to us then?
